Kalkeri Sangeet Vidyalaya - Monthly Newsletter

After a break of one year due to you-know-what we are indeed delighted to be in a position to share with you all some news from KSV. During the lockdown and subsequent school closure there were just a few people residing on campus, so not much news to share, but we are now very happy to be back! Welcome to the February 2021 newsletter!

We hope that you enjoy catching up with the latest news from KSV?

Much love

The KSV Family

Back on Campus!

Early in January, we were elated to welcome back our first batch of the students to the campus, the 10th standard, and then one month later, the second batch, the 9th standard. Upon arrival we conducted orientation sessions for the parents and also for the students so as to ensure everyone has a clear understand regarding the new ways of working and learning under COVID conditions.

For the first two weeks, for each batch, there was a strong emphasis upon social distancing and wearing masks, after which, they were declared as being a part of a safe household thereby enabling them to mix a little more freely with other members of the household and resident staff.

We have adapted some of the larger open areas of the campus into outdoor classrooms which allows the teachers to maintain social distance in a well-lit and well-ventilated space.

We are now looking forward to welcoming back further batches of students in the coming weeks and months and getting back to normal as much as is possible.

COVID-19 Fundraiser

In order to safely welcome back the students and staff to the campus we have had to complete a myriad of tasks. We require around 9,000 USD to ensure the safety of the students and staff who have to learn and work on campus under the conditions brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Join our effort to raise money and make a quick contribution to our fundraiser. With your support, we will be able to provide all of our students with face masks, soap and hand sanitizer, and also to boost their immunity system thanks to vitamins and improved meals, for the next 6 months.

We are asking for your help today because your generosity will make a real difference in our students’ access to education. Every penny will help, so please share our fundraising page within your network to help us keep our beautiful school safe. Many thanks for your support.

Prof.AV Rama Rao Awards for Excellence in Teaching

The 2019-20 academic year was the first year of a new annual award the, Prof AV Rama Rao Awards for Excellence in Teaching Award. This award was established by one of our long standing sponsors and supporters, Shri Dinkar Rao, in honour and memory of his father, Prof AV Rama Rao, and also as a means of acknowledging and motivating the academic and performing arts teachers at KSV.

In the Academic department, Santosh Hiremath received the award, and in the Performing Arts department,Vasanti Mutugoor. Both Santosh and Vasanti are highly deserving of the award and all the KSV Family congratulates them for their hard work and dedication to their students and the profession of teaching.

All the KSV Family is extremely grateful to Dinkar and his family for all their valuable support, and we are looking forward to further collaboration in the future.

Support from the Roncalli Foundation

Our children receive great care due to the dedication of each and every member of staff and volunteer who put their heart and soul into their work. This is also true for the administration team, who work very hard for the children on a myriad of back-end office tasks. Recently, the admin team were delighted to receive new work equipment, which will considerably upgrade their efficiency and performance.

The purchase of new computers, desks and chairs for the office was generously funded by the Roncalli International Foundation.

Roncalli supports various projects by funding renovations, equipment and training.

The KSV students and team wholeheartedly thank the Roncalli International Foundation for their valuable, and on-going, support.

Celebrating Republic Day at KSV

The 26th January is Republic Day which honours the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on 26 January 1950.

We celebrated the day by getting together the resident students & staff, and held a socially distant gathering, where Smt Hanumanti Mumigatti, a long-standing member of staff from Kalkeri, hoisted the Tiranga, the national flag, and we sang the national anthem.

This year, Hanumanti Mumigatti from Kalkeri had the honour of hoisting the flag

And, of course, it was an event with social distancing
