Newsletter - February 2022
Welcome to the first newsletter of 2022!
We hope that you will enjoy reading the exciting stories from the last six months. It is also with great pleasure that we are sharing with you our 2020-21 Annual Report.
Much love from the KSV Team 💚
Our Students Are Coming Back! Last December, all our students returned to the campus for the first time since the start of the pandemic. Look at those happy faces! In January, there were two Covid-19 cases amongst our students, so we decided to send them all home, except for the 10th standard, for two weeks. Just a few days later, all the schools in Dharwad District closed for the 1st to 8th standards, so it seems that we took the right decision at the time.
The government has now announced that schools could reopen. So, by the end of this month, we will again have a full strength of students on campus!
Keep up to date with our students coming back to school by following us on social media!
Our College Students Won Gold We are thrilled to announce that this year, our students Prashant Harogerimath and Kalmesh Bannadnulmath won the Gold Medal in their university’s tabla department.
Prashant completed his Masters and Kalmesh his Bachelor degree, both achieving the highest marks within their batch. Like us, they can be very proud of their hard work and achievement. We are grateful to all the people who contributed to their success.
They are now part of the ever-growing club of KSV students to have received academic recognition for their talent!
The Himanshu Roy Award for Excellence in Music It was on the occasion of Himanshu Roy’s 58th birth anniversary, that we were proud to announce the recipients of the 2021 Himanshu Roy Award for Excellence in Music: KSV students Soundarya Kamble and Kiran Badiger, who play harmonium and tabla respectively, have shown a strong commitment and incredible passion for Hindustani Classical music over their years of training. Soundarya and Kiran both received a certificate and a musical instrument which will greatly assist them to pursue their higher education in music. All of the KSV team are very proud of both of them and congratulate them on their achievements.
This annual award pays tribute to and honours the memory of Himanshu Roy and will go towards students based upon their performance, interest and commitment towards music.
A New School Bus for Our Students We were delighted to recently purchase a new school bus! This new vehicle will now enable us to take a bigger group of children to music performances and educational visits. Attending or participating in music events will no longer be a logistical challenge!
This was made possible and generously funded by the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). We are wholeheartedly grateful for their valuable financial support for the project.
Our New & Improved Computer Lab The work on our new computer studies centre has now been completed! Our students can now make use of 22 new computers, a Smart TV and fast Wi-Fi Internet which will help them to develop the skills to succeed in this tech-driven world.
The Computer Lab and the new Computer Syllabus are great steps for KSV in order to reduce the digital divide and increase the digital literacy our students, who do not have access to a PC or a tablet at home.
KSV would like to sincerely thank our valuable partner Danfoss Power Solutions India for their most generous financial support to fund this project. We are proud to share the same progressive and inclusive vision of education.
Introducing Our New Partners In recent months we were delighted to bring on board two new funding partners: the Sri Ramakrishna Sarada Bhajan Mandali & Kokal Interiors.
The Sri Ramakrishna Sarada Bhajan Mandali had previously been a funding partner for KSV several years ago, so we were delighted when they reached out to us around the time when the pandemic started to offer their financial support. Their donation is funding expenses related to COVID-19 and food.
Kokal Interiors as a company is a new partner for us, although some members of the company have been child sponsors for a number of years now. We are most grateful to be chosen to partner with them. Their donation is funding some of the salary payments of the Performing Arts department and also some medical equipment. All of us at KSV are most grateful to the Sri Ramakrishna Sarada Bhajan Mandali and Kokal Interiors for their generous and valuable support.
Sponsor Our New Students! When you sponsor one of our students, he or she receives life-changing benefits from your monthly support. You help defeat illiteracy and malnutrition. You also watch your sponsor child transform their life and have a bright future. This one-to-one connection is a unique way to foster compassion for a child in need and unlock their full potential.
Our 1st and 2nd standard students who are new to KSV need sponsors. For more information, contact us at sponsor@ksv.org.in or click the button below. Thank you all for your unwavering support towards the students and staff at KSV. We look forward to continuing to share their beautiful stories with you in the future. 💚 Contact us : Kalkeri Village,
