Building a Brighter Future: Construction Projects Update |
We are excited to share with you some updates on the construction projects happening at KSV. Thanks to the support of our funding partners, we have been able to embark on several important projects that will improve our facilities and enhance the learning experience for our students.
As mentioned in the previous newsletter, we were fortunate to host a team from AMISTAD CASIRA who worked on rebuilding one of our classrooms. This project was a great success and we are grateful for their hard work and dedication. The CASIRA team were also working on the reconstruction of the "Bobo House", the school infirmary, which will soon be completed.
In addition to these projects, we have also started rebuilding two of our students' hostels during the recent school holidays. With generous support from Danfoss Power Solutions India, we have made good progress on the senior girls' hostel and will soon commence work on the small boys' hostel. We are committed to providing a safe and comfortable learning environment for our students, and these construction projects are a crucial part of that mission. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our funding partners who have made these projects possible. |

A Showcase of Cultural Heritage |
We are thrilled to share with you the recent success of a music program, held on the KSV campus and organised by the Kannada Cultural Department. The program was a celebration of local talent, featuring KSV students as well as several local youth groups who performed a variety of folk dances and a drama play.
The event was a resounding success, providing our students with an opportunity to showcase their skills and share their love for music with the community. We are especially grateful to the Kannada Cultural Department for their sponsorship and support in making this program a reality.
The program was a testament to the vibrant and rich cultural heritage of our region and the power of performing arts to bring people together. We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to participate in such a special event and are thankful to all those who made it possible. |

Community Donations for the KSV Kitchen |
We are excited to share with you that two organizations, the Dharwad Lion's Club and DonateKart, have recently extended their support to our school by making generous donations in the form of grocery and food items for our kitchen. These donations have been a valuable addition to our school community, helping us provide better facilities to our students and staff. We extend our sincere gratitude to the members of the Dharwad Lion's Club and DonateKart for their kindness and generosity.
The donations we received are a reflection of the community spirit and generosity that we value at KSV. We appreciate the contributions of both organisations and are looking forward to working with them in the future.
Once again, we express our heartfelt thanks to the Dharwad Lion's Club and DonateKart for their support. Their contributions have made a significant difference to our school, and we are truly grateful for their thoughtfulness and generosity. 💜 |

Empowering Students: Breaking Social Stigmas |
We are excited to share with you our recent experience hosting Charlotte and Vincent from the organisation Propolis. Propolis aims to foster healthy communication skills and emotional intelligence, and we were thrilled to have them lead several sessions and activities with our students.
During their visit, Charlotte and Vincent facilitated discussions on several taboo topics that often create barriers to open communication and understanding, including sexuality, illness, mental health, and death. Their sessions provided a safe and supportive space for our students to ask questions, share their experiences, and deepen their understanding of these challenging topics.
We are deeply grateful to Charlotte and Vincent for their dedication to creating an inclusive and open environment for our students. Their work has helped to break down stigmas and promote healing and understanding among our school community. We are honoured to have had the opportunity to learn from them and look forward to continuing our partnership with Propolis in the future.
Thank you again to Charlotte and Vincent for their invaluable contributions to our school. We appreciate their time, expertise, and commitment to promoting healthy communication and emotional well-being. 💜 |

KSV Students Embrace the Spirit of Holi |
After a hiatus of two years due to COVID lockdowns and other reasons, the KSV community was thrilled to finally celebrate Holi. Holi is a popular Hindu festival celebrated in India, Nepal, and other parts of the world with Hindu communities. It usually falls in March on the full moon day (Purnima) of the Hindu calendar month of Phalguna. The festival is known as the "Festival of Colours" because people throw and smear coloured powders and water on each other.
Everyone at KSV was super-excited to finally be able to get out into the forest and celebrate Holi by playing with colours. |

| From Classroom to Coastline |

In late April, the 10th standard students took their SSLC exams. These exams mark the end of ten years of education, and serve as a crucial stepping stone towards college and higher education. The results of the exams are expected to be announced in May, and we are optimistic that our students will achieve a 100% pass rate.
Following the conclusion of their exams, the 10th standard students were treated to a short three-day trip. They spent time at a picturesque beach in Karnataka, and also visited various sites of interest such as Murdeshwar, Gokarna, and Miraj Fort. This trip served as a well-deserved break for the students after the long and arduous exam period. |

Staying in touch with our college students who have moved on from the KSV campus is a source of joy for us. We take great pride in learning about their accomplishments and updates. To facilitate this, we organise College Students’ Meetings twice a semester. In March, we conducted one such meeting, which was well-attended. It was heartening to hear about the achievements of our former students and we felt proud of their progress. |

At the end of the academic year in April, the KSV community gathered for the annual prize giving event. Students, staff, volunteers, and parents attended the ceremony to recognise the students' achievements in various categories such as academic studies, performing arts, sports, yoga, leadership, character and much more. |
The event also included the presentation of annual house shields, with Jaipur House winning the Olympic Games Shield, Kirana House winning the Performing Arts Shield, Gwalior House winning the Academic Shield, and Jaipur House winning the grand prize, the 2022-23 House Shield. |
The event also acknowledged the contribution of the KSV staff, parents, some of whom were actively involved in raising funds or donations-in-kind for the school, and this semester’s dynamic group of volunteers,. The ceremony included performances from the students, and ended with a collective lunch before students and parents headed home for a well-deserved five week holiday. |
