Kalkeri Sangeet Vidyalaya - Monthly Newsletter

Welcome to the October Newsletter. This month, was primarily a holiday month for us at KSV, but prior to the start of the holidays we celebrated Gandhi Jayanti, and witnessed an amazing play put on by our drama students during a Manch Pradharsan session. During the holidays, we were then busy with campus renovations and repairs including laying a new stone footpath.

We hope that you enjoy catching up with our news from October at KSV?

Much Love

The KSV Family

Our Benefactors

This month, our benefactors in the spotlight are Husky Injection Moulding Systems. Husky is the world's largest brand name supplier of injection moulding equipment and services to the plastics industry. The company has more than 40 service and sales offices, supporting customers in over 100 countries, including Chennai in India.

Through their Corporate Social Responsibility program, last year, Husky donated 8,00,000 INR to KSV. Some of the funds are being utilised in the current project footpath laying project, and the remainder of the funds will be utilised in the early part of 2020 which is when we plan to start to rebuild some of the classrooms.

All the KSV Family are wholeheartedly thankful to Husky for their valuable support.

This Month's Annadaan Donors

As this month was the school holidays we received just one Annadaan donation; we were most thankful to receive an Annadaan donation from:

• Vidya Hosagoudar

All the KSV Family are most grateful for her valuable support.

Next month, we anticipate a substantial increase in Annadaan donors as we will be launching an Annadaan Campaign. Please see below for more details.

If are interested to support KSV and the children by making an Annadaan donation then please see the details below, and/or write to us at annadaan@ksv.org.in or give us a call on (0)9945906721.

Manch Pradharsan

This month, there was just one Manch Pradharsan program; in the last week of the semester, Mr Pattar’s drama students put on an outstanding performance that was greatly appreciated by the students, staff, and volunteers.

It is clear that the students under the expert guidance of Mr Pattar are making excellent progress with their drama studies.

The Manch Pradharsan sessions are empowering for the students as they have the opportunity to showcase the outcome of all their hard work and effort, and their Guru’s performances are inspiring for the students which serves to further motivate them onwards in their journey into the world of the performing arts.

Our Annadaan Campaign

On the 5th November we were very happy to launch our Annadaan Campaign; the campaign will run until the end of February 2020, and our target is to find 150 new Annadaan donors.

Anna = Food  –  Daan = Charity, therefore, Annadaan is a Charitable Donation for Food

Indian tradition and philosophy dictates that the action of offering knowledge (education) to the less fortunate or feeding the needy are considered to be amongst the most pious of acts that one can undertake during one’s lifetime. It is considered to be the duty of each and every able person to partake in such actions to help uplift the underprivileged.

For just 3,500 INR, you can make a difference to the lives of the 220 students at KSV by providing a healthy and nutritious meal.

To make your Annadaan donation please click here.

We would also be most grateful if you could also spread the word, and promote the Campaign, amongst your family and friends.

If you have any questions then please reach out to us at: annadaan@ksv.org.in or by WhatsApp: 916362405285

MANY THANKS FOR YOUR VALUABLE SUPPORT!

Gandhi Jayanti

On the 2nd October we celebrated Gandhi Jayanti.

Gandhi Jayanti is a national holiday in India celebrated on 2nd October. This day is celebrated in the honour of the birthday of the Father of the nation, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi or Bapuji. Internationally this day is celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence as Gandhiji was the preacher of non-violence.

To mark the day we gathered in the Yogashala where carried out a Puja before some of the children sang. Sukanya’s class gave an excellent Kirtan performance.

School Holidays

On the 6th October, all the children went on their holidays. All of the students, staff, and volunteers worked extremely hard over the course of the last five months and deserved a well-earned rest. The children had five weeks of holidays whilst most of the staff had three weeks of holidays before returning for a week of training and then a preparation week before the children returned to school on the 11th November.

Before leaving for the holidays, the parents had the opportunity to meet the teachers and wardens to discuss the children’s progress and development in their studies and social welfare.

During the holidays there was lots of work to be done on the campus. Arjun and his team were busy repairing all the hostels and classrooms ready for the next semester and various members of the team were actively preparing training sessions and keeping the office, with its myriad of activities, up and running.

Happy Holidays!

The Path Project

One of this year’s major construction projects is the laying of a footpath from one end of the campus to the other. The footpath will run right from the boy’s side to the girl’s side, and will be the primary internal footpath in the campus.

The project is being generously funded by L'Orphelinat and Husky, to whom we are extremely grateful for their valuable support.

Due to heavy rains, and a somewhat extended monsoon, the project has been slightly delayed, but we anticipate that it will be completed by the end of November.

Already the project is taking good shape and we can see that it bring a significant improvement to the campus, primarily we will feel the benefit in the next monsoon season as during the rainy season it has always been challenging to get around.

This is just Phase 1 of a larger project to lay footpaths in all areas of the campus. The next phase will be to link up all the classrooms and hostels to the main path and then the final phase will be to lay footpaths in the staff and volunteers’ accommodation area.
